Well I doubt Garner is interested in the broad solutions that would reduce the need for car ownership but at least she’s talking about.

How do you marry cultural populism around personal vehicles and affordability?

If the city of #ottawa could get 20,000 families to get rid of one car… for folks with multiple vehicles and how many others to get rid of cars altogether? Fund transit. Freeze new road construction. Fund transit #canada #cdnpoli

@grivettcarnac reducing Ottawa’s owned cars by 20k would mean something like $200M in spending power freed up not to mention reduced costs to the city… and yet any serious plan to make driving even slightly uncomfortable is dismissed as absurd

@grivettcarnac Can you imagine a multi-car tax then went to transit and active-use? Oh, the dreams.

@grivettcarnac Using public transit to do fundamentally common things like going to the grocery store in the evening or a Sunday afternoon should be simple as having clean water from kitchen taps, and the lights coming on with a switch. Doesn't everyone need these?
