@ncrav this has been a very good read, I have to say I don’t know very much about the history of Portugal. And it kinda makes me think about how there are only very few Holocaust survivors still alive, and they’re all very, very old, and how that might relate to the recent resurgence of fascism

@enby_of_the_apocalypse yes, especially since there are few Holocaust survivors, and many of which moved outside Germany, which left their history being told by proxy. I think Portugal hints as how a dictatorship may survive longer with a less ecstatic regime together with some focus on maintaining useful stuff like trains and schools, especially in remote places. Today many no longer have them due to cost cutting, and this slowly plays ordinary people right back into yearning for that past.
