My opinion was that, if the package didn't pass, putin's own life would have been directly in danger.

Paradoxically, the aid package gives putin more time to live, and leaves to and its people the "honour" to deal with him.

I think its obvious the the US always abandons its "friends" when its inconvenient for the US. I am not sure why my country, Australia, has its entire defence policy based on fawning obsequiousness to the US.

@largess anyway it is a problem, because even the defense of Europe is centered in NATO and NATO is centered in the US.

There is need to build something else, where the US may be, or may not be, only one of the allies.
