I love St Michael's, and not just because of Rabbie's mausoleum. It's a wonderfully gothic and all so tight packed together.
Quite the place to hang out at night when you are a student at the Tech.....
@Alternatecelt It's one of the most unique cemeteries I've ever seen. The size of some of those tombstones are remarkable. There must have been an awful lot of very wealthy people in Dumfries in the 18/19th century.
I bet it's a great nighttime hang out. My visits are in my lunch break, as I work nearby and I often have to share it with schoolchildren eating chips. By about 1pm, the bard is knee deep in chip trays!

It's been years since I was there at night, but all those tall tombstones looming at you with intent in the dark is worth it. I think Mostly Ghostly does night tours, which I bet are entertaining.
Aye, there must have been some money in Dumfries back in the day.
@Alternatecelt There's some seriously creepy tombstones! I've also noticed that sparrowhawks are using the church spire as a feeding platform.
I think it's hard to avoid Mostly Ghostly flitting around there at night. I'd love to go to some of their tours, but I'm usually on my way back to the shire before they start.
