This is so sad.
So many of us who went into sports careers, esp sports journalism, were inspired by Sports Illustrated.
The state of media is really bad these days. So many jobs have been eliminated, so many publications eliminated or decimated. This led me to leave working as a sports journalist and get an MBA in 2009, though I continued on biz side at ESPN until 2015.
@obrien_kat I'm of two minds. I'm not at all surprised, having seen the industry at large struggle to survive. And, contradictorily, I'm shocked. They are/were one of the pillars of sports journalism.
