Finland considering closing border with Russia

The agency said the asylum seekers are citizens of third countries who used Russia for transit.

I wonder which countries are using Russia to transit to Finland to apply for asylum. I imagine it’s a former soviet state.

Likely all over the place.

Russia and Belarus have in the past used migrants as a weapon. They allow them to come, then push them to a European border, because they know migration is a sensitive subject in the EU.

Based on what’s been reported, most of the people are from Iraq or Syria. Russians seem to be collecting them wherever they can find them, ferry them to the border, push them through the Russian border checkpoint and refuse to let them back, only leaving the option to try to force their way into Finland.
