A box office failure that gradually attained cult status (especially initially in the USSR, as it happens), is the much underrated 1985 film "Enemy Mine" starring Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett, Jr. During an interstellar war a human soldier and a reptilian soldier of the opposing forces are stranded together on an inhospitable planet. The majority of the film consists of only those two actors -- it has often been said that it almost is a stage play in that respect until later in the plot.
