Calgary police officer accused of domestic abuse in off-duty incident

A Calgary police officer has been charged following what was described as an off-duty domestic incident outside of the city.

RCMP in an unidentified municipality neighbouring Calgary arrested the officer on Saturday and charged him with assault, assault by choking and forcible confinement.

“Given the domestic nature of this incident, the name of the officer will not be released to protect the privacy of those impacted,” the Calgary Police Service said in a release.
