Autistic love languages can look different than NT ones. We like to share experiences, may unmask around people we are comfortable with, do penguin pebbling, share a special interest, stim, or infodump.

LilyoftheRally,

@autism101 @actuallyautistic I am hyposensitive to touch (sensory seeker) so touch is a love language for me. Sharing special interests is another one of mine (I won't infodump without acquiring permission, but if we're interacting offline and I infodump, it means I enjoy your company). I would also love to see more pictoral representation of autistic adults when informing allistic people about us, due to the bad stereotype that autism only affects kids.

That's an excellent point. Often, when I search for information about autism, it's specifically about children; adults are an afterthought, if they're mentioned at all. Perhaps that'll improve as time goes by, once serious study of autism has been going on long enough.

kanrei,

@autism101 @actuallyautistic O.O Oh what is neurotypical love language then? What do they do?

@kanrei @autism101 @actuallyautistic
It varies. Typically it's touch, kind words, gifts, or a service of some kind.

kanrei,

@nddev @autism101 @actuallyautistic Ah ok understood.

X3 Oh, how is gift different from penguin pebbling? I mean isn't a penguin pebble also a gift?

@kanrei @nddev @autism101 @actuallyautistic
A gift is more formalized and embedded in social context. Like a trade. Pebbling is smaller and without big fuzz about it. More like micro-transactions.
Like: Here thats for you.

kanrei,

@Dr_Obvious @nddev @autism101 @actuallyautistic Ah ok understood. Thanks for explaining.

@autism101 @actuallyautistic what is penguin pebbling?

@odo2063@chaos.social avatar

@PurpleStephyr @autism101 @actuallyautistic It's like bringing your geologist collegue, you have crush on, stones from different passes in the alps you visited in your holidays.

AutisticAdam,

@autism101 @actuallyautistic

While I do enjoy your posts, I try not to use the term "different"

Merely just "how we are" 🙂

But we are. We're neuroDIVERGENT.

IE: not Typical. Ergo, different.
