Instagram could be to blame for iPhone 15’s overheating

Since the iPhone 15 launched there have been some serious overheating issues. Now it seems we have a culprit.

Using the Instagram app on an iPhone 15 or 15 Pro appears to use 1% of the battery every minute and cause the phone to get very hot.

There are numerous reports on Twitter and Apple forums pointing the finger at the instagram app.

So the solution to most of these overheating issues would seem to be very straightforward.

Delete the Instagram app from your phone until the app is updated to fix the issue.

admin,

One would think the very straightforward solution would be to switch phones.

BleatingZombie,

I really don’t disagree. This doesn’t exactly indicate an Instagram issue if every other phone doesn’t face this issue

47_alpha_tango,

It is most likely the app hasn’t been optimised for iOS 17. So it kind of is an Instagram issue.

SkyezOpen,

How though? The apple store is fucking anal about what they let on there.

47_alpha_tango,

If they haven’t updated the app for iOS 17 then it could be causing the issue.

I haven’t used Instagram, so I have to wonder what it could be doing. Is it dynamic, polling for new content?
