Stick in The Beans? (infosec.pub)
I was prepping an Americano, and the Peet’s Major Dickason had a stick in it. I have never seen this before on a national brand like Peet’s.
Stumptown Homestead (infosec.pub)
I'm still dialing it in, but at 11.36g in / 41.73g out, it was pretty good. Still not there, but closer than I thought on the first pull. I vaguely taste a fruit (apple maybe?) and some cacao. Not so much milk chocolate, as stated on the bag, and it's a bit more acidic that I would expect from this roaster, but both of those...
New Community Icon Fun Contest [ends 22-AUG]
Edit: I’m going to extend the contest to mid-Aug to give time for the newest Reddit refugees to participate....

My Breville Infuser died; enter Silvia (i.imgur.com)

Morning Cheers to all you dads out there!...
Father's Day shot (lemmy.world)
Also, I didn't realize how grungy the underside of my espresso machine looked! Going to have to do something about that.
Happy Father's Day, Gents (infosec.pub)
Traditional macchiato and giant (approximately 21cm / 8in diameter) chocolate chip cookie from a local bakery.
Researchers one step closer to growing decaffeinated coffee beans (www.theguardian.com)
Grinder woes, or, listen to the complaints of a lazy cheap bastard.
Let's start with the obvious answers, "Just weigh the dang beans", "Just get the single dose hopper", "Just clean more often", and my personal favorite, "Just spend more money"....
Weighing the Shot (infosec.pub)
I don't have a proper shot scale, so I had to make due with the $2 Blaze scale that I found at some thrift store a while back. It's propped up on the dosing funnel to help mitigate splashing and further cooling of the liquid....
Blue Bottle Bright (infosec.pub)
I decided to try the Bright roast from Blue Bottle....
What beans are you using?
Thought it could be fun to get a thread going on what beans we're currently using, maybe with some pertinent details on the brew variables if you feel inclined to share....
Mid-morning Long Black (feddit.uk)
My espresso based mid-morning beverage of choice is a long black. Which I make with 80g of water topped off with a 36g shot of espresso. I think most people tend to use a bit more water, but I find this ratio a nice balance. My mind and body can only cope with two coffees a day, so I like to second and last one to be something I...
Rooster and the Hen Coffee Company (infosec.pub)
Rooster and the Hen Coffee Company, medium roast, smooth and sweet, notes of very dark chocolate, and peanuts(?). Dark, smooth, creamy, delicious.
French Press Coffee House, Armando's Blend (infosec.pub)
Armando's Blend, medium roast, from French Press Coffee House. It was creamy, sweetish, smooth, not super complex, but very satisfying. Almost like my tongue was caressed by it. I have been tending to favor light roasts lately, but this one... This one I can do all day.
Does anyone have recommendations for dairy alternatives?
Title - I’m using lactose free milk right now, but I’m wondering if there are any good milk-free alternatives? I tried using Silk’s barista almond milk, but it’s sour after being frothed?...
My humble Monday morning espresso (feddit.uk)
Hardly Instagram worthy, but here is my properly humble espresso this morning. Brewed on my used Gaggia New Baby, and ground with a Kingrinder K4. It's the Trigonometry Blend from my local Artisan Roast here in Edinburgh. Not normally a fan of this blend but it was this month's subscription choice for espresso, and today it was...
How can we port over the resources that we have on r/espresso?
There are many very useful buyer guides and general brewing guides on r/espresso and r/coffee, some hidden in posts and comments while others are tucked away in the wiki. Is there any way that we can port them over?
Blond Shot (infosec.pub)
I forgot to share this from the other day, and now can't remember which light roast it was :(...
