How many years do you think we will see? Will they dominate the entire era, similar to Mercedes did prior? Or will other teams catch up? If so, who? Curious to see how y'all think this plays out.
I personally think they are relatively untouchable until 2025. Mercedes may get closest, but RB is so far ahead that I don't see them getting legitimately challenged for quite some time.
Looking at how Merc dominated for so many years with Red Bull and Ferrari taking turns kind of getting close and then getting further away the next year, I think it could be like that. RB nailed these regulations and understand them so much better than the other teams, simple as. There will probably be some other teams trading spots for second and maybe getting close to RB in the coming years. But with such a points lead in the WCC already this year they an feasibly shift a lot of their resources to trying radical new ideas with potential massive payoffs rather than struggling to even nail down a concept a la Mercedes and Ferrari at the moment.
It depends on when Merc and AM start catching up. There has to be a “ceiling” somewhere. I have given up all hope on Ferrari, they first need to come up with a concept that works after TD39 massacred their performance.
This season is a complete write off anyway, but I am hopeful about next year. I still think RB will be very fast, but I expect more competition.
I don't see anyone getting close to them probably until 2026, when the engine rule change comes in. Hope I'm wrong tbh, but you have to hand it to them they've done the best job with the rule changes.
