As I’m getting older, I have noticed that I can’t eat as much trash food as I used to without consequences. Lactose intolerance was annoying enough, but now It seems that I also have IBS.
The epitome of what I’m trying to refer to is the Playdead games (Limbo and Inside). Dark Souls and BioShock both hit on this idea but not quite so directly. The game BADLAND is also a great example of this, too. The mobile game The Silent Age also did this exceptionally well. Never quite knowing what’s going on, and maybe...
I think Oxenfree has an eerie atmosphere. I haven’t played the second one yet since it got released just a few days ago, but I really enjoyed the first one.
I really like using MacBooks (for anything other than gaming). My biggest gripe is about how difficult Apple makes them to repair. I need to replace a battery on an old MBP and I’m dreading the dozens of screws and dealing with the adhesive…
An "amateur hour" Javascript bug is self-DDOSing Twitter, sending infinite requests from users related to — or possibly even causing — Elon Musk's "temporary emergency measures" to stop web scraping.
This is absolutely terrible. Besides the privacy/anonymity factor, VPNs are also used to access geoblocked content. Some autocratic regimes ban a lot of valuable resources on the internet because they want to control people’s access to information. This is only going to help the people in power.
I believe that’s the case, yes. So Kbin/Lemmy.world, etc. still receive the content posted on beehaw, however beehaw doesn’t receive the content posted on Kbin/Lemmy.world. I guess this also makes it so that if anyone were to comment on this thread from another instance, we wouldn’t see their comments (unless they’re from beehaw or another instance that beehaw has federation enabled with)
edit: It seems that I was wrong, as clarified by @vaguerant below. Federation between kbin and beehaw is still active.
I think we’ve all felt it today across the various Lemmy and Kbin instances. There is certainly a surge of new users and content coming through now (which definitely isn’t a bad thing!)...
Any VPS that meets the minimum requirements should be OK. I’ve personally used DigitalOcean, Hetzner, and Linode for many personal projects before and I’d expect that any one of these should be fine :)
Alternatively, you could or course go with something else, like GCP, Azure, or AWS as well. It’s your preference in the end.
How many years do you think we will see? Will they dominate the entire era, similar to Mercedes did prior? Or will other teams catch up? If so, who? Curious to see how y'all think this plays out....
It depends on when Merc and AM start catching up. There has to be a “ceiling” somewhere. I have given up all hope on Ferrari, they first need to come up with a concept that works after TD39 massacred their performance.
This season is a complete write off anyway, but I am hopeful about next year. I still think RB will be very fast, but I expect more competition.
Yes please! Also narrower/shorter if possible, they’re ginormous now and they look ridiculously out of place in street circuits. Since FIA/FOM have been pushing for more street circuits in the calendar for the past few seasons, they better find a solution for how terrible overtaking is on most street circuits. Making the cars smaller and lighter should help in this regard.
Honestly, I don’t think this whole 3PA/API discussions could have been handled worse by Reddit, but especially by spez. I am almost certain that his PR people/lawyers told him not to comment on anything relating to the absolute mess created when dealing with Christian (dev of Apollo), but he lost to his own ego and doubled down anyways.

What are some good games with a creepy/eerie atmosphere but not outright horror?
