Hey people: I started using a shimmer recently- Gluon from Colorverse. Love the look, but not surprisingly it has gummed up my italic nib Pilot Metropolitan. Are shimmers best for dip pens in your opinion? Or do I just resolve myself to a decent once-a-week cleaning?

And please - no lectures about NOT using shimmers. Much appreciated.

@macosken Colorverse shimmers are usually pretty OK with a lot of pens. Did you shake the bottle before filling? Did you agitate the pen before writing?

@macosken How wide is your italic nib? I use shimmer inks but only with M or wider nibs - unfortunately I have found narrower nibs don't love shimmer inks, especially Pilot (since they're narrower to begin with). I find it also helps if you move the pen around a little while writing to keep the shimmer from settling. And if the shimmer does clog while writing and you don't want to do a full clean, dipping the nib in some water and wiping it off can help keep it clear.

@macosken Lastly, different shimmer inks have different size particles - could be worth doing a little research on inks with finer shimmer particles if you want to use them in pens with finer nibs.

@rebeccawriting @macosken Colorverse shimmer is on the finer side of shimmers
