@cory it is a way to verify an orcid id within your GitHub profile. This will place the orcid icon beside the link. Otherwise, anyone could put any orcid link in their bio and claim that it is them

@cory @markpitblado Yes, and it is used to locate a scholar when relating to professional papers, you may find this link in some papers. There are so many people with the same name lol.

@cory Many teams put their code on the Github for other scholars, may be that's the reasin why Github give this link.
