So the Aqara sensor on my garage roller door occasionally registers as open when it's not - presumably owing to some magnetic interference (I've got like 7 other identical sensors on other doors that don't do this). For now, when #homeassistant pings me about it, I've got the notifications including a still from the garage cam so I can tell if it's a false alarm.
But I'm wondering if I can dip my toes into #AI with a mini project that scans the still photo and figures out for itself if the door is open, then cancels out false alarms automatically. Anybody know where I could start with this?
Truth is, sometimes it just doesn't report closed at all when the door closes, and the only solution is to open and close the door. It's not like it's flapping or anything
You could try to augment that with an additional vibration sensor from aquara, they have rotational sensors. You could use that one to check the first one.
Still not as fun, but probably a lot more reliable and easy to maintain
@newhinton@dmakovec Alternatively you could build a bipedal robot to walk out there, inspect the door, handle a push button cell phone, and call to inform you whether or not the door is shut? ;)
