Should changing channel preserve the main view selection?

I posted this in /m/kbinMeta, but I realized that it's probably a better fit here. I was going to post this in the bug tracker, but given more thought, I'm not sure what the best behavior is.

Consider the following:

Start in the Microblog view in the Subscribed channel
Change channel to Favorites by clicking "Favorites" in the channel dropdown

I expect to end up in the Microblog view of the Favorites channel. Instead, changing the channel always resets the view to Threads. What do you think? Should changing the channel preserve the view, or should it stay as-is and always reset to Threads?
