On the upside, since I was pretty much laid out all day, I was able to catch up on 2 whole seasons of #letterkenny (including the final one). It sucks that the series is over, but I think after 12 seasons, it's really run its course. After a while, all the storylines start to run together.
It also kind of sucks that Hulu didn't make a peep about it (that I saw) having new seasons or that season 12 was the last one. Guess their recommendation engine fell asleep at the wheel on my account.
Anyway, so long #letterkenny, and thanks for all the laughs! It has been a fun ride!
Something I love about both #Letterkenny and #Shoresy is that they take the piss out of Canada, hockey, and Canadian hockey, but they so clearly do it from a place of love. One of the other great things about both is that the comedy doesn't punch down, and despite the fact that there is a whole lot of sexual humor the characters themselves are not vilified for just being sexual beings. It's very refreshing.
I'll also have to rewatch it, but there's one scene from the season finale of Shoresy that I'm seeing called transphobic, but I honestly read it in the exact opposite way. More on that once I see it again. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt given their previous history and how it seems so odd they would do that.
So I actually did watch it again and I'm not sure. Shoresy actually consistently genders the person they're talking about correctly (with one possible exception but I can’t tell if it's "him" or "'em") but I would call it clumsy at best.
I'm also willing to take into account that it is a Canadian show and so there might be some cultural differences at work here.
My conclusion is it's not my call because I'm not part of that community and I don't really have enough to say either way.
TIL that the actresses who play the “Aunties” in #ReservationDogs are actually sisters!
Also, as I have recently started watching #LetterKenny I had been wondering why the actress who plays Tanis looked familiar and it turns out she’s the same actress who plays the “Deer Lady”
Anyway, season three is starting off hard, and is still awesome
