Zachariah, in Mouse "back" and "forward" buttons not working
@Zachariah@lemmy.world avatar

Can you bind keyboard shortcuts to those buttons for that specific software?

xtapa,

Yes, I tried it before but Logseq was not recognized but was there after a reboot so I got a workaround going. Still it would be nice to not have special rules.

twistypencil, in Is there a way to add multiple templates to the daily journal?

Is love to know the answer to this!

@kenoh@lemm.ee avatar

Yeah, I don’t know the answer. However, I’ve backed off on having a daily spam of 6 blocks because they show up on the page history even if I don’t put anything under them. I always do something for project a, so I’ll keep that one.

monty33, in How do you use page & block properties?

I have templates for various regular meetings that I attend. In these templates I have a property called “attendees”. In each template I pre-populate that with names of folks who are regular attendees. Then I can edit it to catch the attendees on that specific day. This helps me when I search for a person’s name it pops up with the meetings they attended.

tanja,

Thanks, I’ll have to look into templates then 👀

sudoreboot, in How do you use page & block properties?
@sudoreboot@slrpnk.net avatar

In general I don’t use properties as much as I could. Mostly to set tags, alias, and sometimes icon, but there are some exceptions where I have custom tags. For blocks I never think to use tags. Not sure what the use case is, but I’m sure there are some good ones.

tanja,

I’m also not sure why anyone would need properties on blocks 🤔

monty, in Queries in the sidebar can refer to the current page!

Im trying to figure out how to get this to work, but can’t find the right syntax. Anyone have any luck?

alexl,

Assuming you tag the top of an index as [[index]]:

  1. Current page in indexes:

    {{query (and [[index]] <%current page%> (not (page <%current page%>)))}}

  1. Indexes present in the current page:

    {{query (and [[index]] (page <%current page%>))}}

  1. Notes about the current page:

    {{query (and [[Note]] <%current page%>)}}

  1. Current page as “author” of something:

    {{query (property author <%current page%>)}}

monty,

Still having some trouble. Maybe it would help if I described my use case. I have a page for each employee where I’ll take notes in my 1 on 1 meetings with them. In those meetings I’d like to be able to see any open TODO or WAITING items I have with them. When I saw this post I thought I could create a page called “Current Page Open”. When I open the employee page in the main area and the “Current Page Open” on the right, the right would show me the list of TODO and WAITING that reference that employee. These tasks are typically entered in the Journal with a in the block, and not directly in the employee page.

alexl,

Does this work in the right sidebar for you? For me it does:

{{query (and <%current page%> (todo todo doing waiting))}}

P.S. delete the word “doing” if you don’t want to see the DOING tasks.

monty,

That works!! Thank you so much. I was doing (page <%Current page%>) which was throwing it off. This is a big help to my workflow.

alexl,

You are welcome!

disrooter, in How do you handle quotes in Logseq?

Everywhere, no matter the page, you can write:

<span style="color:#323232;">- [[Book name]]
</span><span style="color:#323232;">  - [[Quotes]]
</span><span style="color:#323232;">   - Plain quote here.
</span><span style="color:#323232;">   - Another quote here.
</span>

or:

<span style="color:#323232;">- [[Book name]]
</span><span style="color:#323232;"> - Plain quote here.
</span><span style="color:#323232;">   #quotes
</span>

You can retrieve them with the query:

<span style="color:#323232;">{{query (and [[Book name]] [[quotes]])}}
</span>

Remember that queries look for references also in the parent blocks, so the following:

<span style="color:#323232;">- [[Author name]]
</span><span style="color:#323232;">  - [[Book name]]
</span><span style="color:#323232;">   - [[Quotes]]
</span><span style="color:#323232;">    - A quote.
</span>

matches:

<span style="color:#323232;">{{query (and [[Author name]] [[Book name]] [[quotes]])}}
</span>

So you can group your quotes and tag them only once instead of repeating the same tag on different lines.

You can embed the quote somewhere else and style it as a quote using the > symbol:

<span style="color:#323232;">- > ((block-id))
</span>

Well here I am about one year later after switching accounts finally seeing your comment… :D This helped!

However, would it be possible to only show the last “depth” of that query so it only queries the actual quotes? I.e. instead of:

https://discuss.tchncs.de/pictrs/image/56a64bdb-15ca-40d3-ba2d-c6e191fca3e8.png

It would be better if it would look like:

https://discuss.tchncs.de/pictrs/image/1cc46f68-1bfe-4fcc-9156-9b03f1ce3820.png

Since the query basically is looking up the quotes by that author (I left the book out in that one) and is being put on the page of the author it is clear what it is and it should only display the actual quotes and the book’s name.

It’s not that big of an issue if that isn’t possible but it would improve it visually in case you have several books with many quotes etc.
