I just want to say that the admins here are great and deserve appreciation, especially during this whole kerfuffle with Reddit :)...
As much as I like the wholesomeness of the concepts of upvotes only, I'd love to downvote idiots on other instances
When browsing through my feed, especially if I have "all" selected, posts that are usually a few minutes old start appearing at the top of my feed after everything has loaded. This makes things difficult to read as it scrolls down the page. Does anyone else have this problem? I don't know if this is a Lemmy issue or a...
For those of us who don't necessairly like to browse during the brighter areas, is there a plan for a dark mode or themes for this instance?
I am currently prototyping (and I do mean prototyping, the code is a MESS) an automoderator-like bot. Can I host it here or should I look for another instance?
Is there a way to add descriptions for images when pasting a link or uploading?
Sorry dunno if this is the correct place to ask, but get an error whenever i try uploading an image in a post or try setting my pfp....
I am new here and a little overwhelmed. I tried adding lemmy.blahaj.zone to lemmur (an app for lemmy) and it didn't work. Is this instance only available through a browser? Or am I dumb?
I cant seem to open feddit.nl through this instance, a community i wanted to subscribe to. I cant seem to find a link to that community in the communities tab when searching for all, and when typing it in the browser i get a 404. Does every instance have to manually link every instance or something? Or am i using it wrong?
I was wondering about 2 things, if this instance for example can cut off federation with another if it deems problematic and why are downvotes disabled?
Was wondering what this instance is going to do if/when a lot of Reddit users migrate to Lemmy instances. From what I've read, there's a high chance that a lot of instances will go down due to the amount of activity and new users....

now that ive got the language issue sorted out, tis time for a proper hewwo :3...
Please make sure you have "undetermined" selected in your list of spoken languages in your lemmy settings in addition to any other languages you speak....
Quick question: I wrote a comment on a post hosted at lemmy.ml, and it shows up here, but when I check on lemmy.ml itself, my comment is not visible. Did I do something wrong, or is there a technical reason that my comment is not going through? I do see posts and comments from others from this instance at lemmy.ml…
I've been poking around and I've noticed there some communities on this instance that say they have 5 posts or so, but when I open them, it says there are no posts. I also tried making a post in a community on the instance, and it shows the community as having one post now, but it isn't visible....
This is the growth of our lemmy instance, without any advertising or spruiking. It was spun up as a test more than anything else, but it seems that it has become more than that!...
So, dunno if this is a instance thing, lemmy, or just fediverse in general, but im havin trouble subscribin to communities on other instances. for example, !technology returns a 404, while !gaming loads as expected. is this expected?
Hey all!...
I don’t see a way to block individual users’ posts from showing up in my feeds. There is no “Block” button on any user’s page like there is for communities. For some reason I thought there was a way to do this before, but maybe I was just using another frontend? I see some users are blocked when checking my settings. I...
