We’re well aware of the whole “It’s just a joke” routine. It’s a part of the alt-right playbook, afterall. That’s why context is always important–to verify whether these are jokes or not. There are posts in this community from the private communities and chatrooms of Tankie users who repeat the same jokes despite being in totally private environments. Even then, what’s the punchline? That genocide is funny? That supporting terrorism is cool? It’s the same as using slurs sarcastically, you’re still a bigot.
If your excuse is that it’s all jokes, why don’t you allow anyone to step in and say “Uhm actually that’s not funny.” – Because you’re not joking and no one is convinced by the routine.
Surely, once in a while we would slip up and say “the quiet part out loud” wouldn’t we? You’ll find that right-wingers, fascists, nazis, etc can’t keep the mask on so long, so why are we so “good” at hiding our malicious intentions? It’s because we aren’t hiding anything.
