In all seriousness, can we stop using memes@lemmy.ml?
edit: One helpful comment has informed me that I’ve been temp banned, not shadow banned. Don’t know why I could still see the post, but I guess the mystery is solved. Personally, I’m not going to use their meme instance any longer even when this ban is up.
I get being frustrated that you were silenced and didn't get a reason but people, by and large, don't care about your personal beefs, and expectations react badly to complaints of not getting ups. That's a knee-jerk that people have.
In future, don't complain about votes first. Make the meme about it seeming broken or something. The majority of people who complain about votes (and find out they were banned or whatever) look like salty crybabies because most of them are.
This is a learning opportunity for being on the internet so use it that way. And then ask about this ban and clarification of rules there.
Yeah no. World is my home but all my memes go to memes.ml. cuz more people go there for memes. Memes I post here to memes.world do noticeably worse. Ain’t gonna fight it tho, I like them uplemmys.
I’m cool with being downvoted by the community. I’m not cool with being deleted when I didn’t break any rules. You’ll feel the difference if it ever happens to you.
Jokes aside, I made a post explaining my frustrations here: lemmy.zip/post/4159690. (I do post examples in the comments.) Got a lot of interesting feedback, the most important of which was to try to care about it less.
I’ve had plenty of posts over the decades removed from different forums that I didn’t think broke any rules. It’s not a personal attack, you just take the L and move on.
The cool thing with Lemmy being completely open is that the modlog is public and it just takes a couple clicks to see you were temp banned for violating the lemmy.ml code of conduct.
Also, all of your posts on memes@lemmy.ml since the ban ended have plenty of comments, are you sure you’re not just having federation issues viewing from lemmy.zip?
The lemmy modlog is a lot of things, but it is not and has never been completely open. Its as clear as mud, mods fill out only what they can be bothered to fill out and even then do so at the bare minimum, and some mod actions dont actually appear in the mod log depending on which mod performed the action.
The mod log is one of the worst parts about lemmy, thanks to how incomplete it is.
It’s hard for me to know what you’re seeing because I’m suspicious that people can’t see the meme in question. But I was referring to the meme titled “Chronic traumatic encephalopathy”. If anyone takes a screenshot of that meme with votes then I will admit I’m wrong and delete this post. (Can’t be just 1-2 votes though because you could do that before the screenshot)
I’ve seen that meme. It had votes; though the votes (and comments) on everything change if I log into a different instance. It’s not usually much of a difference, tho. Like 1 or 2 points off and 3 missing comments.
I posted the same meme to sopuli.xyz and to lemmy.ml. Did well on sopuli.xyz, got exactly 0 responses on lemmy.ml. Mind you, I’ve been temporarily banned from lemmy.ml (a while ago) and have been critical of the mods there, so I suspect fuckery is afoot.
