I voted for Fistfull of Metal. It's not even Anthrax's best record, but they're underdogs who get no respect, which I think makes them more representative of the metal scene.
Plus the whole record is Motorhead beats and obnoxious guitar solos. It really scratches an itch when you listen to it.

I spent hours trying to track down a record store that carried Ride The Lightning, and I listened to Stay Hungry on repeat on my Walkman during a 10-hour drive in the car on a family vacation. Still listen to Tooth And Nail, The Warning and Slide It In ALL THE TIME. And I haven't gotten to Powerslave yet.
But I'll vote for Knights Of The New Thunder. It sounds like TNT's later releases, which I also like. More nordic power metal than pop rock.
@TheMetalDog@bstrange Loads of great non metal released in 1984, too, including two of the most fun songs I know ... "Girls With Guns" and "Run Runaway."
Also a good year for Canadians. Honeymoon Suite's debut came out in 1984, as well as Triumph's Thunder Seven, Bryan Adams's Reckless and Kim Mitchell's Akimbo Alogo. Been 40 years and I still haven't mastered the opening riff to "Go For Soda."
