#Musician friends, I've been slacking on listening to and writing about your #music. In my defense, I've been stupid busy but I'm going to start making time. Feel free to reach out to me with what you're up to and I'll try to cover as much of it as possible as soon as I wrap up my current writing test (due Monday night, so starting Tuesday most likely).
Still planning on launching a newsletter to act as a home for all that but haven't had time to figure out the logistics of that either.
@Ether Diver Ah, regarding a newsletter: If you have access to a server then install yourself mailman. It get's you quickly out of the commercial newsletter zone, that means as much as your receivers won't get behavious-tracked when reading your news. Just a hint.
@LucaManciniDrummer hey if you have a release on Bandcamp, SoundCloud, self hosted, or any other non Spotify type service, and you want more ears on it, you can send me a link, recommend a still it two or three (basically around 15 minutes worth of music, however many "songs" that is for you) and I'll listen to it, write up a short reaction that focuses on what I think is best qualities are, and posit it to my 1800ish followers.
@jrp yeah I don't love it as a medium either, but a) you can upload your work directly, without paying anybody and b) you can speak to the musicians directly as well, so you can arrange to pay them for their work if you're so inclined, and c) you don't have to have an account/be signed in to listen to someone's music
That's my minimum baseline for a platform I'll cover. I don't use SoundCloud myself but I don't want to exclude artists that do despite my distaste for it.
@LucaManciniDrummer you'd need to follow me, it's something I do for mutuals, but no other obligation or cost (I do always appreciate of you do me the courtesy of listening to a few of my tracks too, but you're not obligated).
