I know, the platform isn’t ready, the platform needs more creators, the platform has technical improvements to do…We could have said the same for Lemmy before the Reddit blackout, the same for Mastodon on Twitter....
I host my own peertube instance and deeply believe in the concept but I have trouble staying off youtube since the content I found so far on pt isnt enough for me....
I’m new at both PeerTube and at Piped/NewPipe frontends. I’ve always wanted to support PeerTube but every time I browse instances I see very little content and it’s especially barren for the type of stuff I like. Not really a tech guy, even though I’m learning some programming my background is that of a Literature...
PeerTube, the decentralized and open-source alternative to video broadcasting services such as YouTube, Vimeo, and Twitch, has launched its version 6. This comes after only two minor versions were released, with PeerTube 5.2 launched in June and PeerTube 5.1 in March....
This is something I’ve been trying to figure out on my end. I run a community instance for creators at spectra.video, and so far it’s been a pretty good situation. The community is fairly cozy, we don’t have many problems with spam, and we connect with a handful of really good partner instances that we like and trust....
That’s right. I almost forgot my favourite Peertube idea to date. I used to write parody lyrics to songs all the time on Mastodon. I figure, why not learn how to make full-blown parody songs?
Hi all. I recently decided to try PeerTube as a creator, and was quite surprised by a lot of what I found. Thought a writeup from the perspective of a newbie to the platform might be useful for others who are considering it....
I have plenty of technical peertubers on TILVids, but I’m interested in finding any fun gaming peertubers if anyone can make any recommendations. I’ve started posting some myself, but I don’t exactly want to watch my own stuff :-D .
The way I see it, the mobile app ecosystem for PeerTube has yet to take off, in spite of the fact that it has a seemingly decent API. More people appear to be using the platform than ever before, which is great, but we still seem to be lacking a general ecosystem that Mastodon or even Lemmy has....
Youtube, for so many years, was just too good. Yes, they changed the 5 star rating system to likes and dislikes and a few years later disabled dislikes altogether, but their algorithm mostly digs up interesting content and it just works for creators and viewers....
So I went down the list of PeerTube clients in F-Droid, and the only two that let me pick my instance / login are TubeLab and P2Play. They look nice but there’s a problem: they don’t understand login with 2FA, and I don’t really want to drop 2FA as I always use the extra security whenever it’s available....
