Still, is there a way to filter search results to only show communities?

Go to the magazine search page, search for community@domain, and (on mobile) scroll to the right, then press subscribe.

Hi! Can you help me?
I tried to search for gardening@thegarden.land (https://thegarden.land/c/gardening) but it doesn't show anything and going straight to https://kbin.social/m/@gardening@thegarden.land shows error 404. I wonder what's the reason?

Hi, just a guess but I think for whatever reason content isn't being pulled to kbin directly from that domain, because when you go to https://kbin.social/d/thegarden.land it only shows threads posted there by users of other domains. I'll keep an eye on it to see if it eventually pulls through.

I'm having this issue too in both directions, I can't get kbin to find my Lemmy instance at lemmy.federate.cc, or vice versa - neither one seems to pull content from the other... if anyone has an idea, please let me know!

What's a tag and what's a badge?

My guess (not sure tho):
badges seem to be linked to magazines so like reddit post flairs? , tags are more like hashtags on Twitter/mastodon?

Yep there's a backlog, the admin @ernest posted about it somewhere. I guess he's worked on migrating the server.

Ah I see, that works nicely in the browser.
For the mobile webapp, it works when clicking the link but there doesn't seem to be a way to access it from search or any other way.

Do you mind if I list some of the questions that I've had and still have and you could incorporate the answers into this post? No need to answer them one by one, but you may see a commonality that may resolve a few of these questions in one go with a simple explanation.

• What is kbin? How is it different than Lemmy? How is it the same? Why do I always see them mentioned together?
• kbin vocabulary: What is a magazine? What is a thread? What is a comment? What is a microblog?
• What is a boost? How is it different from an upvote?
• Is there a mobile app?
• What is a "federated server"? What is an "instance"?
• What's all this about "federation" and being able to see content from elsewhere? Where is elsewhere?
• On this site (for example), what does it mean when I see feddit.de, squabbles,io, or readit.buzz?
• Do I need an account on all of the websites mentioned above? If not, how do I see content from the others on my kbin homepage?
• what is the relationship between /news on one site and /news on another?

I have made an effort to answer some of your questions in the OP after numerous edits! I know there are still some missing but I'll get there eventually!

Replace the ! with an @ and search with the search bar.

Yeah I'm not sure what the link issue is I'm trying to figure it out myself as that is not the link I have entered. The link should be without quotes "kbin.social/m/skeptic@lemmy.world" see the attached screenshot. Not sure why the link is being translated from what it is entered as.

What is happening!? Both of your last links work ONLY IF I open them in a new tab (middle click). If I click on them directly they do not work and go to (https://kbin.social/u/)

This is so weird.

Simply typing "(at)skeptic(at)lemmy.world" turns it into a link that seems to be correct, pointing to (https://kbin.social/m/skeptic@lemmy.world) - see above

HOWEVER, if I click directly on the link, for some reason it takes me to a user profile that doesn't exist (https://kbin.social/u/@skeptic@lemmy.world)

BUT if I middle click the link to open in a new tab, it correctly goes to (https://kbin.social/m/skeptic@lemmy.world)

I have no idea what is happening or where to report this behaviour.
