We usually joke about the orange site being full of crazy narcissistic people writing bullshit as if it was the only truth, but damn, lobsters has some crazy bullshit comments more than half the time completely undisputed and it just lingers there as if they made any sense or were the truth.
@vascorsd I think it’s just because Lobsters has much smaller community there’s just no one to engage it.
Another aspect is that people on there seem to be much more chill so even if there’s someone who might have the knowledge they just don’t want to get into an argument on the internet.
@vascorsd I'm a lurker, and what kept lobste.rs interesting is that sometimes you get really good comments from people who know their stuff. Also, they seem to be more respectful vs. HN, where there's an annoying passive aggressiveness.
But yeah, I agree, many threads have undisputed comments, and the community of people that can reply is gated.
@alexelcu definitely, on lobsters sometimes some good pearls are found from interesting people. I stopped using the orange one regularly some years ago since I started to feel enraged from the amount of craziness sometimes there was. I'll continue to open lobsters to find interesting articles.
I think the older one gets and the more experience one accumulates, the more annoying the comments get, since now I can tell if it's bullshit or not.
