Since starting to drive an EV, I’ve become aware of a segment of the population that is deeply offended by electric vehicles. These are generally middle aged dudes who often drive pickup trucks that have been modified to be loud and/or spout noticible emissions.
The unresolved childhood trauma of getting a Christmas gift with “batteries not included” is my best guess why they are offended by cars with batteries.
