@Radical_EgoCom bugger. I love my instant pot

misanthrope,

@Radical_EgoCom well that isn't exactly correct. Whomever posted that either doesn't understand bankruptcy filling in the US or is just naive.

The company filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy, which is vastly different from chapter 7. As it stands, the company will continue to exist, they are simply restructuring their debt to "make it more manageable" (as commented by the CEO earlier today), whatever that means. This type of filling is preferable to the lenders who own the nearly $800m in debt the company currently holds, as they have a better chance of being repaid. Under chapter 7, the corporation is dissolved and their remaining assets are sold for pennies on the dollar and the lenders fight over who gets what and most of them get nothing.

Milkman76,

@Radical_EgoCom these fucking people... arent afraid of negative PR anymore, are they. They just come right out with it, like numerous executives, politicians, pundits have recently said "dying for the economy is actually good", "COVID is actually useful in the fight against china", "the elderly should be ok with sacrificing themselves."

The oligarchy thinks it has such a strong hold on us all that we will do NOTHING, time and time again, as they OPENLY destroy the planet, violate our rights, determine our future, etc.

@Radical_EgoCom

I was scratching my head over this today, what kind of psychotic expectations did they have that this wasn't enough money to earn from a kitchen appliance????

@Radical_EgoCom

i'm surprised they didn't try "air fryer as a service", where if you don't buy an annual subscription, the pressure cooker and various other features don't work...

f'ing stupid greed...

@Radical_EgoCom It's unfortunately also a pretty easy product to clone, once it's popular. A pressure cooker with some programmable buttons, they got squeezed pretty hard on the low and and the high end.

uninventive,

@Radical_EgoCom That is hilarious.

Spent years marketing the crap out of it to become a household name, only to give up when shareholders are upset it can't continue peppering shelves at Walmart and Target with product nobody needs.

snooze_cat,

@Radical_EgoCom Guess they should have done what most other manufacturers do, build in some good old planned obsolescence to stack our landfills faster.
