This afternoon I hosted a visit from a group called The Pursuit of History, 30 folks spending the weekend immersed in Revolutionary history, and had a lovely time showing them collections from 1774 Boston. https://thepursuitofhistory.org/pursuit-of-history-weekends/rebellion-in-new-england-may-2024/

Three large cartoon prints satirizing events in Massachusetts, particularly the British reaction to the Boston Tea Party

One of the attendees asked me what’s kept in the elegant wall cases in the room . I’m afraid the answer is a little prosaic—it’s the foam wedges we set the books on.

Doors open showing them full of green foam wedges neatly stacked

:/ no Agatha Christie mystery for us.

A bit anticlimactic.
