Mordachai_Shedbacon, in Perfect Dark

Pretty lady, alley, smoke machine, and a tough-sounding catch phrase. 2000 AD was a simpler time.

greendakota99, in Wave Race 64

Back when it first came out, my mom rented an N64 for my birthday weekend from Blockbuster including Wave Race 64, Goldeneye 007 and Blast Corps. I don’t think I slept that entire weekend!

Fantastic game!

Lucidlethargy, in Taco Bell Mario Kart 64 Promo Ad (1997)

The copy here is so bad… Like, this must be the least concise ad I’ve seen in years.

AngryAnusHornets, in Wave Race 64

N64 takes the cake for my all time favorite games, and this is one if them.

No German words for “magic moves” and “super turns”? I guess what they say about the German language isn’t true.

It’s a cool game.

Oddly enough, the MiSTer FPGA N64 core has undergone some incredibly quick progress in the last few days, and Wave Race 64 is one of the first games that is almost fully playable. Follow the dolphin!

coffee_poops, in Wave Race 64

I never played that game. I did, however, spend a lot of time fucking around in the training area.

Muddydog,

Dolphin!

Xyz, in Top Gun VS (1987) Arcade Flyer

Loved this game, especially the midi versions of the top gun soundtrack. I’d leave the intro screen on and just listen to it loop while I did other things.

GenXcisGuy, in Megaman American vs. Japanese Box Art

I remember my brother renting this and bringing it home. I took a look at the box and immediately thought this was going to be hot garbage. Turns out to be a fucking masterpiece.

I was actually afraid of the AB arcade cabinet when I was a child. I wouldn’t even go near it.

xyzzy, in Megaman American vs. Japanese Box Art

When Keiji Inafune signed my Mega Man 1 box he laughed and said, “Oh wow, this one!” Then he called someone from his group over to come take a look at it and explained in Japanese it was the US box art and they were like “Really?!” and we all laughed.

On the other hand, when Manami Matsumae signed it, she was just so happy someone recognized her that she offered to sign whatever I handed her. I told her she was just as important to the legacy of the series as someone like Inafune, perhaps more so.

ThrowawayPermanente,

The music in those games was outstanding

flying_mechanic, in Wave Race 64

Bits of the soundtrack still bounce around in my head, so many hours in this game

Son_of_dad, in Wave Race 64

This game was many of our introduction to N64. This and 1080 snowboarding hold a special place

OldWoodFrame, in Altered Beast

Animorphs go!

Arbiter, in Taco Bell Mario Kart 64 Promo Ad (1997)

Mario needs a bathroom ASAP.
