Reminds me of Tulsi Gabbard. Widely regarded as an unserious Democrat by Democrats, decides to go on Fox and assorted conservative media platforms as “the Democrat willing to face the truth”
I read through all the Twitter discourse and was a little on his side, seemed like they were denying because he wasn’t a “major candidate” and I don’t think he is one but you see why someone might be mad about that designation.
Then I actually googled it and learned that Secret Service only covers major candidates within 120 days of the General Election, which would be November 2024 and way too far away. There’s a clear, objective reason to reject the request.
This is like me asking Medicare to pay for botox at age 40 and getting rejected and then complaining that it was because they said I was too ugly. There’s an argument they should cover more medical procedures but I’m 40.
It’d be a predictably hilarious ‘Pub move to stand up RFK as a third party candidate only to have him siphon off the “still crazy but not that crazy” voters from Trump. The tears would be delicious.
I wouldn’t put it past him to try to run as an independent. Even though many states have sore loser laws to prevent failed major party candidates from launching an independent bid, I imagine he could find a way to weasel around that. The other possibility that I see him pursuing is getting attached as a VP candidate to a Trump ticket. RFK Jr has already stated that he would be willing to accept a position in a Republican administration, and has been flattered by compliments from Trump.
Even if that were to be true, the only thing shown is that RFK Jr has no chance in the primary. Though, I am not convinced that is true when in 2012, an incarcerated inmate won 40% of the primary vote in WV against Obama. abcnews.go.com/…/prison-inmate-wins-more-than-40-…
I like RFK’s stance on being a neutral country (anti military industrial complex / anti war) and his environmentalism. He’s the only Democrat I’d ever vote for.
Ukraine is the world capital of neo Nazism going back decades. Ultra nationalist militias worship Nazi terrorists like Stephan Bandera. Yet the DNC will call you a Nazi for not wanting to arm the genuine article of fascism. I see RFK as a breath of fresh air.
But the neo conservative warhawk DNC party is eyeballs deep in the pocket of Ratheon, General Dynamics, and Lockheed Martin. Hell even AOC voted to send the Nazis weapons.
Like how do you try to win democrat votes by going on Right wing, Far Right, and conspiracy media?
It’s like all RFK thought it would take to win the Presidency is to have the Kennedy last name and be antivaxx, because that’s about all he has to offer other than empty promises of legalized weed.
I don’t align with either party, at all. I don’t like any candidates, and question if I’ll even bother voting.
If I do vote, I would have to determine how much the negatives weigh down positives from any candidate, and I’m not sure yet if RFK’s BS runs too deep for me to stomach, compared to the few benefits he may offer. Those few benefits, though, are among my primary interests. At this point, he seems the best option to push for environmental protections and government transparency.
Is he a loon? Yes, but I firmly believe all of our candidates are severely psychologically imbalanced.
True, and that may be the wrong approach. But from what I gather, he would be incentivizing and subsidizing tech like renewables to make them more attractive to the market. He would also push more litigation towards bad actors.
I’m not convinced that anything else we’re doing or any other plans we have are going to work, so I’m ok with trying a well-managed free market route.
