@bllgvn I hope they sort it out, for sure, that's a lot of kids at risk (and continuing heatwave... it's not like it is just one day of hot, it's the entire event in 100F+ heat index)
@bllgvn "We are monitoring the weather forecast and continue to request the Host to take the necessary measures in the event heavy rain is forecasted." Oh geez, rain on top of heatwave.
@ai6yr I keep scouring footage looking for port-o-pots. I've only noticed a couple briefly in that footage. which also shows that the green I thought might have been portos is actually shade structures.
It's weird. there should be huge rows of them at an event that large.
@mjausson@ai6yr entirely possible. trailer toilets for events are nice, but also a LOT more expensive and take up more real estate. They're typically only 2 or 3 toilets per trailer.
I've assumed those were shower trailers since I haven't seen any people lined up to use them on the live stream.
@exador23@ai6yr I've never seen porta-potties outside North America. Have you?
In Europe they always have trailers with 2-3 stalls for temporary installations such as festivals. They usually have running water too. Permanent camping sites always have fixed installations with running water.
I've never been to Asia, though. Maybe they have porta-potties there too?
@exador23@ai6yr Yeah, maybe it's extra toilets. Here's a Sky News article with an image of the outside of the toilet trailers. An anonymous source calls them unusable.
Of course they're unusable. There are portable toilet calculators for events. with 43,000 people you need about 2500 toilets IF you service them every day.
@exador23@ai6yr Yeah, this is all on the organizers. The jamboree before this was in Japan and also very hot. But it was so well organized that it was still fun for the kids.
I can only imagine how frightening it is for a teenager to be taken away in an ambulance by people who don't speak their language. Being in hospital is no joke, but then also to worry about how you're going to get home when separated from your scout group. Poor kids!
