I remember vividly rewatching the original Stargate movie shortly before the the TV show was to premier on Showtime. I remember thinking "I don't understand how they're going to make this a whole season... the story is complete!"
My FIL was into it pretty deep, so I saw a lot of it back when we only had one TV. I think we still have it on DVD, tucked away somewhere. I always love how dry RDA was when he delivered his dialogue.
Also, I love the symmetry of Stargate Atlantis launching Jason Momoa’s career, and then how he went on to play Aquaman…
Yeah… the tone wasn’t right… It had this vibe of “we’re going to make a serious TV show this time.” Vibe to it. However the things you get to see in that show are very cool. I’m just now realizing Lemmy doesn’t have spoiler tags so I’ll leave it at that.
Best place to start is the original Stargate movie as it sets up the universe and the characters for SG1. Then, one you hit season 8 of SG1, Atlantis starts and there is some timeline cross over between the two. It’s not essential to switch between the two to understand what’s happening, they can still be watched pretty independently of one another, but switching between the two to watch it in all in chronological order can still add a bit of extra clarity to the earth’s and atlantis’ interactions. Typically, the only place I could find an actual link to one of the episode lists I’ve seen in the past was through reddit, so I’ve just copied and pasted the link to the list, rather than the reddit url. The user was deleted otherwise I’d give them credit too. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/…/pub?output=html
Yeah, I’m super excited to see what comes of this. It feels like a big experiment. I don’t know, like the internet is brand new, at least for me with this fediverse concept. Just has that kind of wild Wild West of the internet feel again.
It’s shitty what has been happening to what were once great platforms, but it is exciting to see the new space that is opening. It may be that these new spaces are a slice of pure bliss for awhile as it takes the more tech conscious to come here. The fediverse, as it is so new, is filtering out people. Hopefully all the good folks come here and the dull ones stay on Reddit and Facebook.
I’m brand new to Lemmy, is there any way to find all of the communities(?), spaces(?) that I have registered and signed up for? I had to sign up with a username on every single space I just tried to look up.
Does wefwef list all of your communities under one login? Sorry, these kinds of websites, like mastodon are new to me and I’m used to like Reddit for instance with one login for everything.
Thanks! This is definitely something new compared to how it was with pretty much every other website with only needing one account. But, I think I’m getting the hang of it.
Also is wefwef on the app store or is this a safari based only program for now? I tried searching the app store and was not able to find anything and I’m not well versed with github, but didn’t see anything in regards to installing it on the phone.
You need only one account, it’s just that interacting with content from other instances is VERY underdeveloped and it takes you outside your instance because of how links work.
Edit: No idea about apps, I’m using official app “jerboa” and will check out other apps once they are more developed
It’s a web app, but it works amazingly well. I’m surprised at how smooth it runs. I guess that was Steve Job’s initial plan for apps, so maybe we shouldn’t be too surprised.
This is the one I use. I like how it switch's back and forth between sg1 and Atlantis. My first time watching I didn't start Atlantis till I finished sg1 and it was a bit confusing going back in time.
Start with the movie but realize it's not nearly as good as SG1's quality later on. Then watch SG1 and if you keep watching by the time Atlantis comes about you'll already know if you like the show enough to continue. I don't recommend anything after Atlantis and the SG1 movies but some people like Universe so it might be worth checking out.
I would just like to add to this, that for the duration that SG-1 and Atlantis were running simultaneously, the new episodes themselves ran in parallel. SG-1 season 8 and Atlantis season 1 each released new episodes on the same night (two part season openers not withstanding), back-to-back. And while rare, they will later on make direct references to things happening episode-by-episode in the other.
