Former Spitfire Weber returns to the NHL as an assistant coach with St. Louis Blues

Less than six years after retiring from professional hockey, former Windsor Spitfires’ player, captain and assistant coach Mike Weber is heading back to the NHL. The 35-year-old Weber, who still makes his off-season home in the area, has been hired as an assistant coach with the NHL’s St. Louis Blues replacing Mike Van Ryn, who was let go in April. “I’m very fortunate to be working for the St. Louis Blues,” Weber said.

Nice, I guess we'll see what he can do. I remember him as a player but he was never really a standout.

Maybe he will be stronger as a coach than a player? Some people's talents lie in other places. I guess we will see.

Very possible! Look at Chief. Not exactly the pinnacle of player excellence, but has done well so far for us

That sounds promising then and hopefully this leads to good things and improvement.

I'm really hopeful. I'm just struggling to envision a worse defense than this year, so I'm optimistically hoping for him to be better lol
