Rescued Owl Getting Checked for Injuries

I don’t think I’ve come across a preliminary exam video for a rescued Owl yet, so I thought this would be a good share.

UPDATE… HE’S BEEN ADMITTED TO TUFTS WILDLIFE .What do ACO’s do when not on the clock? We work because the animal kingdom does not wear a watch. This evening a “brancher” great horned owl was called in as injured on a wood pile. Normally we assume they are just branchers however, the presentation of this owl and how he was sitting on the log pile led me to believe there may have been something else going on for this poor guy. The parent was right up in the tree watching us while we helped the young one. scooped this chatterbox up and reached out several rehabbers. ACO Mallette (who’s also a rehabber) came over and we gave him a preliminary exam while video messaging with Jessica Zorge from Raptor Tales. She asked us to do a couple of tests and the last one he did not successfully complete.

Needless to say, this little owl will be hopefully taking a ride up to Tufts tomorrow if they have the room. This owl is from Priscilla Ave area of Norfolk.

Thank you for the assist Millis/Medway Animal Control and Raptor Tales Rescue of Shrewsbury. Some times it takes 4 hands to examine safely, another two to video and 2 more eyes via video to see what may or may not be going on. This little one has a LOT of champions working for him. Hopefully he gets a clean bill of health and can be brought back to his family.
