SwingingTheLamp,

If I were a school shooter, the sign on the right says to me, take out the staff first before they realize what’s going on.

Laticauda,

Better hope that first attempt doesn’t succeed.

Illuminostro,

Russia has beaten us and didn’t have to fire a shot. They’ll watch us kill each other over racism, religious zealotry, and narcissism.

intensely_human,

Haha, what a stupid meme. Let’s spread this around so everybody knows what a stupid meme this is. lol stupid right wingers

darkphotonstudio,

The US is lost.

Yerbouti,

I’m a college/univ teacher and I will quit on the spot if you ask me to have a gun.

NocturnalEngineer,

“The number of school shootings is too damn high. How can we prevent this?”

“Why don’t we put A WEAPON IN EVERY CLASSROOM and make the teachers responsible for preventing them!”

“Perfect! Nothing could go wrong with this plan!”

The thought process fucking baffles me…

PoliticalAgitator,

It’s only baffling if you assume they mean what they’re saying.

They oppose it because it’s less profitable. Gun laws that did a better job of keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and terrorists would cause a drop in sales for one of Republicans biggest donors. Although number of sales actually blocked would be tiny, the process of determining if someone is an idiot, criminal or extremist would result in millions of people simply not bothering.

They support arming teachers because it’s more profitable. There’s 4 million teachers in the USA and requiring every one of them to have a handgun would be a huge windfall for the gun lobby.

By asking “is it profitable”, you’re able to know exactly what pro-gun groups will support or oppose because it always lines up with that question.

Illuminostro,

Qui bono. You can always count on greed.

aluminium,

Neither

kibiz0r,

“Cool, infinite ammo glitch!”

Facebones,

What’s better than one person with a rifle?!

TWENTY PEOPLE WITH RIFLES LET’S FUCKING GOOOOOOO

Illuminostro,

TWENTY PEOPLE ARMED TO THE TEETH STANDING AROUND WHILE CHILDREN ARE BEING MURDERED! GET SOME!

GroundedGator,
PanoptiDon,

If I’m a cop and you are in a school with a gun, I don’t know that you aren’t the shooter. So my point of view is behind the sight

Honytawk,

It is like putting a sign that says “No water allowed” on the bottom of the ocean.

Unless you remove the ocean, things will get wet.

moon,

Every single child should be within 10 feet of all times of a murder device activated by a simple trigger. The best solution to solving murder is adding more killing machines, because mistakes never happen around kids, and they’re all mature enough to fully recognize the consequences of pulling the trigger at someone.

ChexMax,

Plus every one of my public school teachers definitely were fully mentally present, responsible, and never lost their temper.

Kids can be little shits. My seventh grade science teacher Mrs. Steele threw a chair during a tantrum after some kids pushed her too far. She was not let go. Soon after they put her in charge of the musical.

I don’t believe she’d ever shoot a student. I do believe she’d think it was funny to remind the students she and other teachers carry guns when the students got out of hand. I do believe she was irresponsible enough to even pull it out to be funny. I do believe that’s the type of classroom where an accident could happen.

captainlezbian,

Neither actually, but prohibiting weapons is a policy that when acted on can protect children

Emmy,

I’d like to remind everyone that staff shooting children is also a tragedy and that only one of these signs promotes safety. (It’s not the one with staff armed)

Ultragigagigantic,
@Ultragigagigantic@lemmy.world avatar

I’d like to remind people that even in a maximum security prison, your safety is not guaranteed. You can give all your rights away, and still get raped in the shower.

Welcome to the shitter multiverse.

TopRamenBinLaden,

The actual maximum security prisons in America, like the one in Florence, Colorado, consist of solitary confinement. I don’t think that people get raped in the shower at those. Those prisoners are kept isolated form each other and locked in a padded room for 23 hours a day.

I definitely agree with your sentiment for any prison that is lower security than Florence, though.

oatscoop,

And the fucked up thing is that the “shower rape” prison is more humane than the “Control Unit” at ADX Florence.
