#TIL how to paginate through my followed accounts lists using the #MastodonAPI. It takes awhile, and I only have 435 people I follow. Surely there is a more efficient way when I only need the user account names.
Guess I'm going to have to sneak a peak at Phanpy and Semaphore's codebases to see how they are handling this. But not tonight. 💤
@cheeaun Actually Semaphore only returns the first 80 so that's why it feels so fast....on to Elk, which does an infinite pull as you scroll the list, I think.
@box464 ohh… that's interesting. Elk's approach is expected (for me).
Maybe it's not a high in-demand feature, but I suspect folks use other clients to see the list instead of Phanpy - I don't think anyone check the list every day too.
Also, if viewing others' list, the list has to be fetched from the remote account's instance to get the full list, if I'm not mistaken.
@cheeaun I'm playing around with a lab / prototype of how endorsed profiles would work, so I need the logged in account's followed list.
This existed a long time ago but wasn't added back in on the v4.x versions. It's coming back soon.
The functionality is already there to add/remove people. Kind of odd if you ask me - I can add your account as "pinned" or "endorsed" to my own. You have no say if it appears or not other than you can unfollow me and then it gets removed.
And I don't know of any apps showing it - my UI is rough right now but here's a screenshot of it coming back and being displayed....planning to release this by the weekend with a blog post. You'll be able to view your own and add/remove them - I hope!
