I think the strike method should be best tailored to each industry to maximize public support/awareness.
Bus drivers working for free/strike pay while not collecting fares will get the public to sympathize with the drivers.
Collecting garbage, consulting, producing widgets, developing software, managing for free doesn’t elicit the same feeling within the public. They need to display their worth by showing what happens when they aren’t there at work. Things close up, streets and places smell awful like Christie Pits Park in Toronto in 2009.
