pastermil, in [LXQT] Clearlooks On Top!

You can’t just post a screenshot with no explainations man! At least tell us your configuration!

iseperiergos,

Sorry man, I forgot

pastermil,

All good

Wait so retro themes can actually look not bad?

iseperiergos,

yes of course!

devfuuu, in [LXQT] Clearlooks On Top!

Some good classic default theme.

iseperiergos,

Thanks!

I think it’s Winapps that you’re using for the windows explorer, am I right?

github.com/Fmstrat/winapps

ColdWater,
@ColdWater@lemmy.ca avatar

Yes it’s winapps and make it run explorer is all I can do, everything just didn’t work I’m too dumb to figure it out but I can run everything from explorer anyway a bit inconvenient but I’ll make do

I_Miss_Daniel, (edited )

Will it work with Boxes, or only KVM?

(Boxes is like VirtualBox but simpler, but with no 3d video support for Windows guests. Unlike VirtualBox, it actually works out of the box on Fedora 40.)

ColdWater,
@ColdWater@lemmy.ca avatar

I don’t know about Boxes but yes it’ll work with only kvm I think they have a guide on their GitHub how to set it up

I_Miss_Daniel,

Thanks.

Apt doesn’t work on Fedora so I have given up for now. Still trying out different distros.

flappy,

Didn’t know that one, thanks!

My roommate literally behind me everytime I use my computer gotta keep everything family friendly

Epzillon,

Just flex on them and go with full nsfw themes on every device you have. As a cherry on top just add nsfw system sounds.

NoisyFlake, (edited ) in Rate my setup (plz don't kill me)

Wait, is this like a really accurate replica of the Windows explorer, or is it actual Windows explorer in a VM with seamless mode?

Edit: No sane person would add stuff like OneDrive and 3D Objects to an explorer replica, so my guess is VM.

ColdWater,
@ColdWater@lemmy.ca avatar

Yep it’s vm, I only use it for Ms office because Only office and Libre office don’t play nice with my language

Sotuanduso,

Aww, I was hoping it was a replica. That would have been really funny.

DmMacniel, (edited ) in Rate my setup (plz don't kill me)

Something is wrong, I can feel it.

why do you run Windows 10s File Explorer?

ColdWater,
@ColdWater@lemmy.ca avatar

Everything is in good order don’t worry about it XD, I run windows explorer because I need it to run MS Word because Only office and Libre office don’t work well with my native language

DmMacniel,

Ah damn that sucks, what’s your native language if I may ask?

ColdWater,
@ColdWater@lemmy.ca avatar

It’s Khmer

DmMacniel,

Oh, thats cool then that MS Word supports it in a satisfactory way and you still can enjoy Linux :)

BananaOnionJuice,
@BananaOnionJuice@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Good that you can slap something together that fits your needs.

I like that you use the MacOS-like tray and at the same time use windows explorer, some kind of Fusion-OS or Frankenstein-OS 😁

My reaction when I saw file explorer:

@legoraft@reddthat.com avatar

Do you only use floating windows on hyprland? I like floating windows more than tiling, so would like to know how you did it.

soswav,
@soswav@feddit.nl avatar

I don’t! Though, I do leave them floating! (Maybe I’m too lazy to ‘re-tile’ them?)

You could set them to float with a keybind like this:

<span style="color:#323232;">bind = SUPER SHIFT, F, togglefloating
</span>

There’s also windowrulev2, which just makes it float automatically:

<span style="color:#323232;">windowrulev2 = float,class:^(proccessname)$
</span>

Do not trust me on this though! There is probably a better way to do so!

What’s the Android emu you’re using?

999999999,
@999999999@lemmy.ml avatar

None, those are just screenshots of my Phone.
If your are on Wayland you could use Waydroid, that could work for you.

Steamymoomilk, (edited ) in [Hyprland] I have no idea what I'm doing

Aaaaaa fellow kitty terminal user! I recently switched i didnt realize you can use kitty as a semi multiplexor. Best terminal in my oppion. Nice rice aswell!

hellofriend,

How’s it compare to alacritty?

monotrox, in Good Vibes

What Browser are you using in the screenshot?

wgs,
@wgs@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

It's surf from suckless.

stepan,

Are you using it just for the screenshot, or really daily driving it? And if the latter, how is your experience with it? I can't imagine using browser with now tabs, so that's why I'm asking. Anyway, beautiful rice!

wgs,
@wgs@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

It depends. When I'm at work, I use Firefox, because I deal with so many web admin consoles, so I need those tabs.

However when I use the computer for personnal stuff, I prefer using surf to limit my browser usage to the bare minimum. I only browse one or two pages at a time, and I like that surf is so responsive and low on resources when I'm just coding in C or settings up stuff on my remote servers.

Forcing yourself to only use one or two browser window is a great experience IMO, as it helps you focus on one task rather than having 200+ tabs that you'll not even look at in the next 5 month. If I find something worth reading later, I grab the URL and put it in ~/.toread or whatever.

kh1b,

is surf usable tho, i tried it before i had some issues with it?

wgs,
@wgs@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

It is usable for me, I don’t have issues.

kh1b,

Great to hear that I am installing Crux right now and wanted to use a simple browser, so I thought of Surf. The only thing that I am thinking about right now is how about ad blocking?

wgs,
@wgs@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

You don’t have any plugins on surf. I personally use a DNS based ad blocker.

This is really cool! I have to steal the idea of using emojis as tags.
Btw, any dots? 👀

zonsopkomst,
@zonsopkomst@lemmy.ml avatar

Feel free to steal the idea. I stole it from another post somewhere in here myself. 😄 We can only dream of dots. Maybe when the Linux phone becomes a thing?

QuazarOmega,

Ahh I see, then it’ll be an honor to copy from a true programmer.

We can only dream of dots.

Isn’t the launcher backup the “dots” for this?

zonsopkomst,
@zonsopkomst@lemmy.ml avatar

Ahh I see, then it’ll be an honor to copy from a true programmer.

Lol.

Isn’t the launcher backup the “dots” for this?

True. I’ve made some minor changes since the original post and the only issue I have is having to replace my weather widget. Kvaesitso actually prompts me to replace, so it is a one tap move. Really cool that Kvaesitso is smart enough to do so!

QuazarOmega,

alright then, keep your secrets 👀

it is a one tap move

that’s cool!

Not OP, but all would probably most convenient. I’d personally be most interested in your Waybar, Dunst and Hyprland configs, since I’m a bloody noob when it comes to theming, but I really like what you did there :3

talou,
@talou@jlai.lu avatar

I second that :) waybar and dunst are very interesting !Hyprland as well

999999999, (edited )
@999999999@lemmy.ml avatar

I do have to say that my waybar modules might behave odd to some people, some module are set to toggle/modify status on left click/scroll some others(like battery) only to expand info on left click. Still most open a graphical manager on right click but mostly no tooltips.

What is nice is that when they are active they have a bottom border and/or color (like volume module being blue when bluetooth is connected) so it should be low cognitive effort to use.

So yeah, active worskspaces are white, focused has bottom border, focused on second monitors have green bottom border, and empty are gray. Which would be consistent with the status of the other modules.

talou,
@talou@jlai.lu avatar

Not odd at all, this is a nice use of toggle. I integrate most of this in mine
