I_Miss_Daniel,

Already starting to happen a bit.

The AI only fools us into thinking it’s intelligent because it picks the most likely text response based on what it’s read before. But often, the output is confidently wrong as it’s really just a parlor trick.

Now, since it’s starting to ingest more if it’s own output, the definition of ‘what is the most likely response’ has been poisoned a little from ingesting that formerly wrong response.

Add in all the blog spam, the fake but funny reddit answers etc, and the system - which doesn’t actually think - starts to get more and more deranged.

I_Miss_Daniel,

Could be an unusual way to keep cool. I’ve seen my dog lick furniture…

I_Miss_Daniel,

I wonder if ebay ebike conversion kits are still a thing. Did mine 15 years ago with an electric front wheel and it’s still going today.

Server as heating device - how do I do this?

So I have this silly idea/longterm project of wanting to run a server on renewables on my farm. And I would like to reuse the heat generated by the server, for example to heat a grow room, or simply my house. How much heat does a server produce, and where would you consider it best applied? Has anyone built such a thing?

I_Miss_Daniel,

I miss the GPU mining days from long ago. Used to have a five old computers with potato GPUs on a time switch to do just this or folding at home as a fun experiment many years ago. It kinda worked in the earliest days but asics killed the income offset after a few months.

The old Core 2 Quad Dell with three dvb-t tuners and a few hard drives still dumps a fair bit of heat into the room.

I_Miss_Daniel,

Reminds me of when I tried to install Firefox on Ubuntu and it said it couldn’t open the download as there was nothing associated with it. Ended up with another copy without an icon but it worked. Then I moved to Fedora which seemed to work as intended. Couldn’t run Mint on this laptop as it boots to a black screen - presumably the wrong GPU. Daily Driver is Windows 10 by necessity.

I_Miss_Daniel,

I think it’s becasue I downloaded a deb file or something that Canonical had decided was not allowed any more. Recent conroversy

I_Miss_Daniel,

I’m guessing its something like CartmanLand but the Simpsons did it first.

I_Miss_Daniel,

Well it’s a series of tubes - you might have been in a different one to bash.org (rip).

Glad I could bring this one to you :)

Welcome to the Fediverse.

I_Miss_Daniel,

He left on a plane, Heading to Spain. He might still feel pain.

I_Miss_Daniel,

I don’t know how.

Perhaps unscrew the mouse and disconnect the wires going to the scroll wheel instead?

I_Miss_Daniel,

I’m happy with it except for the inability to hibernate out of the box. Same for most distros though I think?

I_Miss_Daniel,

I thought it was the Combined Community Codec Pack - cousin to K-Lite.

I_Miss_Daniel,

I_Miss_Daniel,

I’m using a cheapo Antsig smart IR thing instead of my phone. They seem to work with most things I’ve tried to pair them with.

I know it’s not what you’re asking for really, but might be a useful option depending on your use case.

I use them to control the aircon, tv (on / off / aspect reset etc) and stereo volume.

Last time I tried to find a decent universal IR app on the play store, they all seemed to suck. Mind you, that was for my note 3 a few months ago.

I_Miss_Daniel,

Nothing wrong with a weekly shower in some conditions.

A good podcast or TV show might help.

I_Miss_Daniel,

Kinda glad 5g turned up so I could switch off my starlink.

It’s still a net positive for the world relative to the cost of laying fibre to every rural property, but they can use 1-2kW a day which seems unnecessary high, and Elon is problematic.

I_Miss_Daniel,

This sounds more like anger management issues than autism.

I_Miss_Daniel,

Interesting.

It displays a preference for loose?
