Courtesy of traffic planners who aren't pedestrians.

@bobjonkman @waterlooregion the boardwalk isn’t even walkable in the winter. They block off those sidewalks and make pedestrians walk in the traffic.

Classic to build an area with "walk" in the name and yet be one of the most hostile areas to do that activity.

I was so disappointed the first time I went to the Boardwalk and learned that it was just a very long parking lot.

I was coming to say more or less the same thing. It's actively hostile to pedestrians - everything is divided by parking lots. I hate going there, no matter that it's easy on the bus.

We used to go to that movie theatre occasionally, and the bus to get there is great, but the theatre and the bus station are on the opposite ends of the 10 minute parking lot walk.

Yeah, Conestoga is the same. km of parking lot between the Ion station and the movie theatre, and no furniture to rest on either. I ended up hobbling the last couple of hundred metres.

No real furniture at the Boardwalk either. I had a couple of hours to wait, and was trying to cross the road to sit on those rocks in the shade of the sticks-with-leaves (upper left). Too uncomfortable after a while, so I ended up on a bench at the building entrance...

And is there even a at "The Boardwalk"? And what would there be to look at?

Not sure if it's still there but I recall there was a section of plastic wood plank walkway that was very slippery when wet or snowy.

@Ryan @Habigelo @bobjonkman @waterlooregion I think you’re overlooking all the scenic roundabouts and astroturf playgrounds

mike805,

@bobjonkman @waterlooregion "Cars are heavy, drivers are distracted, and you are squishy. Look before crossing." The honest sign that should be there.
