lobut,

I think all rich people believe they earn it themselves, even their kids believe themselves to have earned the money of their parents.

tygerprints,

I like it. As a capitalist pig (by almost anyone else's standard), I love to rake my money into a big pile and dive into it naked and head first. Yes it's a great pile of hardness and it makes me hard to know it's all mine. MINE MINE MINE. I'd rather burn it than give it away! AH, HA HA HA HA!!! I light my cigars with 100 dollar bills and wipe my ass with the change! OK I'm being ridiculous, but my parents did OK by investing in IBM and Marvel way back in the 60s when nobody knew what those things even were. So, now I have trust fund money (more than I really need) and some nice things to go with it - I'm not ashamed of any of it. I give a lot to charity, and volunteer at many charity functions in my neighborhood. I do give away money because it's honestly a good feeling. And I have to say (as unpopular as it may be) that my friends who are rich are not some kind of robotic inhuman exploiters of other people.

Simba,

You’re right, some of them are just living off the spoils of robotic inhuman exploiters of other people that came before them.

When people talk about ‘the Rich’, they’re not talking about the people with a few million. They’re talking about people with a 9 or 10 digit net worth. People with way more money than they could possibly spend yet continue hoarding more.
The same people who donate .02% of their net worth and act like it offsets the fact they fucked over thousands or millions along the way.
The same people who criticize the poor for not simply saving for a few months for a down payment on a home. Who think cutting a daily Starbucks is the answer to poverty. Those so out of touch with their wealth that they literally cannot fathom someone who is very frugal but can only manage a double digit ‘slush fund’ earmarked for the little entertainment they can hope to afford for that month but only if there were no unexpected expenses and you didn’t get sick or miss a day of work.

tygerprints,

I will concur with your opinion the moment you can name one 9 or 10 digit net worth person who can factually (and verifiably) be proven to be "hoarding" money. The idea that the only way people can become that rich is by "fucking over" millions along the way is not absolutely true. Does Bill Gates fuck over people who willingly purchase his windows systems? Not that there were a lot of alternatives, but should he not be allowed any profit because it might end up that he has more money than most other people? And who the hell goes to Starbucks anyway - I can afford better coffee than that. My point is, all these generalizations and stereotypes you are describing are dangerous because they influence gullible people and spur them to violence. Being super rich not only isn't a crime, it's a major part of the American dream.
