Oops, super busy day and I almost missed my SOTD post. This tub of soap was on my 2021 kill list. It’s mostly full. Ugh.
Fun little thing I saw now looking at the SOTD pic: The bevel is mirror polished (duh, but:) and in this picture it becomes very visible because the word RUM of the balm label is reflected on it. Neat!
A great shave today and I’m posting very late. Again, I almost forgot.
Now that I know that Desert Vetiver has a grapefruit note, I can find it pretty readily, and with my penchant for renaming fragrances, I’m tempted to start calling this Dessert Vetiver. Awesome, well crafted, scent!

Weinstrasse aftershave has given me frag and/or menthol burn in the past. I used to have the soap and had no problem with it. In general I like to water down CL aftershaves/toners, so I did that today and it seemed to make the frag/menthol burn go away. For now I’ll keep it, since I love the scent. I’m willing to alter my application technique if it means I get to keep using it.
I like the Central Texas soap base. It’s a tad on the poofy side, but turns really nice when you add a bunch of water to it.
