This dude is getting people sick. No one should be rewarding this behavior, frankly.

The point is that he didn’t have a choice - the article talks about how he had to go into work even when he was in physical pain and sick because otherwise, he couldn’t pay his bills, and that he regrets all the hours he had to work.

AngrilyEatingMuffins,

Yeah. It’s terrible but he has a duty to not get people ill and he didn’t respect that duty

And he has a duty to keep his family fed and a roof over their head.

The villain here isn’t the worker who has to work when sick so they can pay their bills; it’s the system that won’t give workers paid sick leave. You’re getting mad at the wrong person.

AngrilyEatingMuffins,

I’m not mad at him lol

There’s a word called nuance you might want to look up. Amazingly, more than one bad actor can be involved in a single event.

People are forced by circumstance into positions where they make choices that negatively impact those around them all the time. They all get a pass? Just fast food workers?

What about the people who missed work because he got them sick? The people who passed on those illnesses to their loved ones? The infirm? The elderly? They don’t deserve a thought because this dude is poor? Come on.

And yet here you are, only talking about this one guy, not the company that forced him to make the choice between working sick or not being able to pay for heat.

AngrilyEatingMuffins,
AngrilyEatingMuffins avatar

yes that's literally the only thing i discuss, and i never talk about capitalist malfeasance, which is definitely shown by a simple click on my profile.

wild how much posturing has gone into protecting this dude who probably got someone killed's image

stopthatgirl7,

And how much effort is put in to not blaming the company policies that put the guy in the position where he had to made that choice, because they don’t give paid sick leave. It’s far easier to be smugly superior over a minimum wage worker stuck between two bad choices than the company actually responsible for someone having to come into work sick.

Anyway, you have a nice day.

Omfg the company awarded him, too, jackass. Every comment here shits on the company, I gotta say the same fucking thing in order for you to shut the fuck up? I literally even called it terrible. Fucking moron. Go harass more people who agree with you for shit they don’t say.

Synthead,

This is a weird interpretation of workers rights

And if you read the article, you’ll see that he talks about how terrible it was to have had to work so much and how much he regrets it.

ttmrichter,

You expect people to read past the headline before responding?

You’re new to the Internet, right?

I want people on here to be better than on Reddit. Just call me a dreamer.

Tangent5280,

I saw this comment and went back and read the whole article.

Yay! Thank you!

ttmrichter,

OK. You’re a dreamer!

TheDoctorDonna,

And he was grateful for the candy! What a kind person. If anyone deserves that kind of money it is certainly him. I hope he gets to retire and never worry about flipping another burger while sick ( and nobody has to worry about him contaminating their food because as commendable as he is and as much as it is not his fault, thats kinda gross.)

NounsAndWords,

So…he went to work sick where he prepared people’s food for a living instead of calling out (since they pay peanuts and he probably couldn’t afford to take off). Great.

stopthatgirl7,
stopthatgirl7 avatar

Yeah, the article talks about that.

malloc,

His best years wasted for a faceless corporation/franchise owner.

This time line sucks ass

ThirdWorldOrder,

Well this certainly qualifies for orphan-crushing machine.
