Huh, I liked Kids in the Hall but I haven’t heard of the other two. I’ll have to check them out!

You might also enjoy Red Green: There’s a red green show channel on Pluto I think.

An odd ball program that I am not sure many people can appreciate or even remember let alone enjoy would be ‘Saturday Night At The Movies - with Elwy Yost’ … it was TVO (TV Ontario public broacaster)

I grew up in norther Ontario in a small community in the 80s and we had three channels … CBC was always on, a pirated movie channel that could come on at random times and disappear at different times and TVO with all its dull programming (dull I thought at the time as a kid but now realize how much I gained from watching all of it)

Saturday Night At The Movies through osmosis introduced me to lots and lots of old classics, film noir, actors, directors and characters from the Golden Age of cinema. Yost was also an amazing host because he was so passionate about movies when he talked to everyone that came on his show. I still remember him interviewing sound guys, lighting guys, back stage hands, editors and writers and just asking them questions about what they thought about famous actors they worked with like Hepburn, Grant, Bogart and all the rest. And then they would show a classic old film.

I was bored as a kid with TV and just about every Saturday, I sat down and watched these old films thinking they were dumb … but over the years, I got to enjoy them. Now I love them like Yost did and now whenever I see anything in black and white, I think of those Saturday Night at the movies. I developed a love for old classic films and it was because of one man’s passion … what an amazing character.

Definitely great Canadian entertainment for me.

I’m not familiar with any of those. Thanks for the suggestions!

soupspoon, in !gittertiere@feddit.de - a replacement for r/Gittertiere

I am on lemmy.world and subscribed to this community, but I can’t see any posts there

Black_Cat,

Maybe your language settings aren't right. In your account settings you can choose multiple languages. Make sure that German is one of them! After you've done that go to Gittertiere and press F5!

soupspoon,

Ohh, thank you! Still can’t see posts but maybe only new ones from here on out will show up

Black_Cat,

Yeah, I once read that one can only see the posts that are posted after the subscription. But as I can see older posts in my subscribed communities from different instances (even posts that are older than my account) I thought maybe that has changed somehow.

soupspoon,

I think you’re right, realized my changes didn’t save before, but now it works, thank you! Gittertiere as far as the eye can see

Black_Cat,

Ah, that's great! I hope you'll enjoy Gittertiere! 🛒💖

The federation doesn't seem to go through when I search for !brompton@discuss.tchncs.de. Nothing appears even after a long time. Anyone else has this problem?

maxmalrichtig,
@maxmalrichtig@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

Yeah, I had that issue with a couple of other communities as well. Sometimes it helps to wait/reclick the search button/search for the URL instead, but sometimes things still don’t show up.

Hope federation will pick it up soon. It federated to lemmy.ml, so it should work on any other instance as well.

I can't seem to get to it. It doesn't show when I search the communities for all nodes, and lemmyfi.com itself returns "server error."

CaptObvious, in Fountain pens (again!)

Is this the community now? The previous one seems still to accepting posts.

hsl,

The old one shouldn't be able to accept links - but that's probably a federation issue, that it may accept them on your own instance but not pass them on to the community.

I'm reading about applications for AI in safety related control systems for machinery. Finding clear guidance on risk assessment for AI systems has been quite difficult. I’d like to talk to anyone who has experience in this area.

This community is more active and it's not on Lemmy.world so people on Beehaw can see all posts !scrobble

Jesus. Here I was thinking I was doing my due diligence lol

I updated my post here and the sidebar on the midwest.social Last.fm community. The midwest.social one can be the rendezvous point if the other two get hijacked by d-bags.

I decided to keep it up for now, but Last.fm communities already exists over on feddit.de and lemmy.world.

Unless you have the instances blocked, you should go play over at either !scrobble or !lastfm.

As a lastfm user for almost 15 years, I don't appreciate to be insulted like that 😆
