My mind is exploding... keeping #houdini & #bifrost logic all in order in my head! They both work in such different paradigm's yet at the end of the day we are just manipulating points in 3D Space
Security researchers at Palo Alto Networks have uncovered a new variant of the notorious Bifrost malware, now targeting Linux systems with a cunning twist.
Nailed it! 💪 Added an export script to our publish tools to convert a #bifrost graph to a clean unseralised #arnold#standin file! Handles point_position, scale, orientation, point_frame and instancing of animated #standins
This allows us to deliver clean repathable assets down pipe and to the external studio!
Was a busy day making sure that my #bifrost graph instancing animated arnold standins exported correctly out to a larger consolidated standin. So far it was unsuccesful which is a real pitty. Hopefully I can crack it tomorrow.
Busy writing a python script to convert a bifrost graph to a native human readable arnold standin file (not like the serialized version that the native arnold exporter creates).
Its nearly done, just need to get my math right converting the point pos, scale and rot to the arnold 4x4 matrix.
Due to work needing me to do set dressing in #Maya 2020 🤮 I decided to at least use it as an opportunity to learn #bifrost which has been a pleasure. Writing a bunch of tools around it to make it pipeline friendly, regarding asset use & linking.
Starting to see some great results!
Building bifrost graphs via python! Got the core of it working 💪
This is going to let the dressing artists rapidly add assets to the graph (all correctly setup without human error) directly from our asset import tools.
Yes! That may have taken longer than it should have, but got it working! 💪 Cull Points based on Camera Frustum in vanilla Maya 2020, Bifrost 2.2.0.1!
Its much easier in Maya 2023 and Bifrost 2.6+ but here we are!
Due to working with this external studio in the UK we're working with arnold procedurals in Maya 2020 and it feels like I have stepped back in time! Making the best of it by pushing to use bifrost at least... stepping us slightly forward.
Yesterday's check on "our" raven's nest found Huginn and Muninn peering into it and making little nibbles at their materials. I'm not great at distinguishing male and female #ravens, but I think, due to his size and scruffier neck, that the male is on the right in this photo.
The nest is built under an overpass of Highway 97, over a stretch of gravel trail connecting two wetland areas. It makes sense to have found these two under a noisy #Bifrost connecting worlds.
