This weeks is

Found in 1821, and named "near to" "lizard" by Henry De la Beche and William Conybeare. This is because it more reptile like than Ichthyosaurus, another marine reptile that had been found only a couple years earlier.

Plesiosaurus was a 3 meter long marine reptile from the Early Jurassic.

An almost complete fossil was later discovered by the legendary in 1823. This fossil is still on display in the Natural History Museum London.

Named in 2005 by Benjamin P. Kear, Eromangasaurus was a 7m long elasmosaurid. It known fossils consist of a relatively complete skull.

At the end 2022 a large, almost complete elasmosaurid was found. Some think this is one of the most complete elasmosaurids found in Australia. Its believed it might also be Eromangasaurus, but this is years away from being confirmed in a published paper.

This weeks is .

The holotype was excavated between 1974 and 1977 by Jose Bonaparte, Martin Vince and Juan C Leal at the Estancia "El Brete".

In 1980 Bonaparte and Jaime E. Powell named it Saltasaurus, the lizard from Salta.

Saltasaurus has an estimated length of only 6 meters, which is 1/5th the length of its largest cousins like Patagotitan.

Its thought that Saltasaurus had a relatively short neck, as its vertebrae were shortened.
