I stayed at a hostel earlier this week which had this whiteboard in the dining area with the greeting “welcome!!” in
various . I was a little tempted to ask them to change “Aloha!!” to “Welina mai!!” which would be a better translation of . “Aloha” is more of a generic greeting. But, at least most people will recognize !

Example of the current Google Translate badness for today: Google translates “The white pineapple of Maui is sweet” as “He ono ka paina keokeo o Maui.” Aside from dropping the ʻokinas from “ʻono” and “keʻokeʻo”, it should be a pepeke painu not a pepeke ʻaike he sentence structure, and “paina” is pine tree, it should be “hala kahiki” for pineapple.
