So I thought the was a bit of a joke, really. I mean a blood pressure style pump, attached to a pourover maker?

While it is a bit "hacky", it actually works really, really well. One of the things I dislike about coffee brewing is the dwell / draw time. Some devices take up to 10 minutes.

This creates a vacuum in the vessel below, when you choose to create that vacuum. Said vacuum completes the brew quickly.

They're onto something here.

A pour over device... with a squeeze plunger thingie. For creating a vacuum. To draw down the liquid faster. How does it work?

It creates a seal between brewer and carafe. The vacuum is formed in the carafe. Drawing down the liquid.
